ENG201 - Seven Cs (Correctness)


The following things are at the core of correctness:
·     Grammar
·     Punctuation
·     Spelling
·     Use the right level of language.
·     Check accuracy of figures, facts and words.
·     Maintain acceptable writing mechanics.
·     Formal writing includes Doctoral dissertations, scholarly articles, top-level government agreements, etc.
·     The style is unconventional, usually impersonal, and contains long and involved sentences.
·     Informal Writing is more common in business writing. Use in e-mail, memos, etc.
·     Avoid substandard language
·     Check accuracy of figures, facts, and words
·     Our goal is to be as precise as possible
·     Words that confuse
·     Maintain Acceptable Writing Mechanics
·     Facts and Figures
a) Verify your statistical data.
b) Double check your totals.
c) Avoid guessing at Laws that have an impact on you.
d) Have someone else read your message if the topic involves data.
e) Determine whether a fact has changed overtime
