ENG201 - Seven Cs (Clarity and Courtesy)


1. Clarity 

·       To convey the accurate meaning to the reader.
·       Choose precise, concrete and familiar words.
·       Limit the average length is 17 to 20 words in a sentence. To chop the lengthy sentence.
·       You must haven’t more than one idea.
·       Words are arranged so that the idea is clear to the reader.
·       Select words that are more appropriate to the reader.
·       Use mostly the familiar words

2. Courtesy 


·       Must a sincere You-attitude.
·       It is not with the insertion of please and thank you.
·       Courtesy involves view of others and also their feelings.
·       Be sincerely tactful, thoughtful and appreciative
·       Use expressions that shows respect
·       Omit irritating expression and questionable humor
·       Choose non-discriminatory terms (sexiest terms, singular pronouns, names)
·       Be careful in using discriminatory language and aware of gender, race, age, colour etc.
